Laurent Ottoz, born in Valle d'Aosta and, as child, with his family, emigrated abroad to seek his fortune. He grew up in Marseille, where for a while has been the manager of the "Café des Alpins", where he sold the liquors he produced to the entire district.
The specific technical knowledge for the production of liquors had been acquired by Laurent during a youthful job at a French Génépy's manufacturer and has been refined thanks to his great passion.
In 1902 he decided to return in the Aosta Valley in order to open the Ottoz Distillery du Val D'Aoste, on the outskirts of Aosta, in the most commercial area of the city, right on the main artery leading from the Mont Blanc to Turin. Here began the production of unforgettable liquors such as '' Ebo Lebo - the bitter that will make you digest even your mother-in-law", the emerald green Génépys and the fruity creams of liquor.
Today the Distilleries Ottoz have passed from the Ottoz's hands of the Rosset's ones; the same family founded the St. Roch Distilleries in Quart.
The original products are still made with the original recipes by Laurent, which over the years, demonstrated to not fear the competition by continuing to win over the public and to hold fast to its market share.
