Genepi - Artemisia
The Genepy or Genepi is a traditionnal Aosta Valley liqueur made out of a rare mountain herb called Artemisia.
What is genepy?
In the dialect of many of the people of the Western Alps "Génépy" is the name, probably of Celtic origin, of the mountain herb Artemisia glacialis: a plant that grows in the summer, at an altitude of over two thousand meters, that moraine land which the glaciers leave uncovered during their cyclic withdrawal. It is a plant that is ten or twelve centimeters high, to which villagers have always attributed medicinal qualities.
How to drink genepy?
